How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Photoshoot

A boudoir session is all about self-love, body positivity, and women empowerment. It is for every BODY, every woman.

Whether you are doing a boudoir session as a gift for a partner or simply to celebrate you, you want to feel comfortable, empowered, and CONFIDENT during your shoot.

Preparing for a boudoir photoshoot can be an exciting experience, but it can also be a bit nerve-wracking for some. So first thing you need to do is …

#1: Stop worrying! You are in good hands with Creating a Figure Photography. We will help you through the whole process of getting ready, styling, posing, and making you feel confident and beautiful. But don’t be afraid to ask questions.

4-6 Weeks Prior to Your Shoot

First, begin dreaming about your ideal boudoir outfits. Shop your closet for your favorite pieces you already own and look at magazines and brands you love for inspiration. Ideally, you want to wear outfits that fit well and are flattering on your body type.

For example, if you have a pear shape, ruffled bralet sets with high wasted panties will have slimming effect on your bottom half. Also, teddies work well for this shape. If you have the opposite of pear-shape and have a bigger upper body build, teddies will create a lovely V-shape that accentuates the natural shape of your body. If you have large breasts, underwire or halter neck bras will help lift and support the chest in a flattering way. If you have an hour-glass shape, you are one of the lucky ones that most things will likely look great on you. But when choosing lingerie, you might want to take advantage of your shape by choosing pieces that draw attention to your waistline, such as a corset or bustier. A corset can help you add curves as well, if you have  you are lacking in that area or are more of a rectangle shape.

Second, go shopping! Ask a girlfriend to help you find pieces you feel and look good in. And don’t be afraid to try something that’s out of your comfort zone. You may just find a new favorite piece that you are excited about.

Third, start drinking water daily. Your skin will thank you if it’s well hydrated.

2 Weeks Prior to Your Boudoir Session

First, begin to narrow down your favorite 3-5 outfits. But don’t forget about accessories! Jewelry, heels, body chains, boots, or anything that shows your personality.

Second, think Beyond the Shoot. Think about how you want to preserve your photos. An album and prints are my favorite way to show off my boudoir photos! Every time you walk by that print on your wall, you get to think, “I did that!” and you get that sense of empowerment and confidence all over again as when you did during your shoot.

Third, think of the music you like that makes you feel confident and get you in that right mindset for your photo shoot. Make a playlist or pick a favorite artist that you would like to play on our speaker. Or you can leave it up to us if you prefer.

Fourth, continue drinking lots of water!
